5th Late Kailash Nath Sarma memorial Invitational Inter School Children Chess Championship 2023



DAY 2 REPORT

5th edition of Late Kailash Nath Sarma memorial Invitational Inter School Children Chess Championship  underway in full swing

Abhirup Saikia of Delhi Public School Guwahati is leading the class 5 to 8 category by scoring 5 points out of 5 rounds. Close on his tail on 4.5 points is Debarata Nath of Sandipani Vidya Mandir Nagaon who will give a tough fight to Abhirup in the 6th round.

In the Below Class 4 category Jisha Jain of Royal Global School is on sole lead by scoring 5 points out of 5 rounds. She will face Asik Soren of Bal Bharti Public School in the 6th round who is on 4.5 points.

In the Class 9 to 12 category, Prakash Nath of Guwahati Commerce college and Raktotpal Kashyap of Kendriya Vidyalaya Khanapara share the lead with 4 points each after completion of 5 rounds. 

The tournament is being played in swiss league format under classicial time control.  International Arbiter Biswajit Bharadwaj is conducting the tournament as the Chief Arbiter while Nandan Buragohain is the tournament Director of the event. 

Matches are being held in the class group of class 9 to 12, Class 5 to 8 and Class 1 to 4 respectively. The top 5 players in each group will be awarded trophy and certificate along with scholarship in the form of free chess training .

Altogether 114 players from various school from Assam are participating in this three day chess event organised by Snehabandhan and Assam Chess Club.

Renowned Social worker and Vice President of Axom Sahitya Sabha Mrs Mrinalini Devi inaugurated the 5th edition of Late Kailash Nath Sarma memorial Invitational Inter School Children Chess Championship 2023 in the presence of Sri Diganta Halder, Principal Sarala Birla Gyan Jyoti, Sri Siben Dutta, President Guwahati Chess Association, Mrs Vijaya Sarma, Centre Head Snehabandhan and host of players, officials and guests.
